Bed Bug Prevention and Mitigation

Our bunkhouses are constructed with a focus on proactive pest control measures during the manufacturing process. We understand the importance of providing residents with a comfortable and secure living space, and our bunkhouses are designed to minimize the potential for bed bug infestations. achieve this through the usage of Low/Voc Polyurethane treatments on our trailer's wood finishings, and a complete treatment of the trailer with Home Defense Spray before it rolls down the road. It's crucial to note that bed bugs are opportunistic pests that can adapt to various environments, irrespective of the building or bed frame material. "Bed bugs do not have a preference for wood or metal. They hide in narrow harborages close to where the potential host sleeps. This might be anywhere within several feet of the bed (baseboards, dressers, nightstand)" (Orkin.com). Once an infestation begins, the material choice, whether wood or metal, becomes secondary in the solution. Because the primary solution to such an infestation involves a comprehensive heat treatment process. This method is not material-dependent; it can reach all areas of the bunkhouse, including those with wood, plastic, and metal finishings, ensuring the thorough eradication of bed bugs. The materials used in Iowa-Built Bunkhouses are selected to withstand and maintain function and beauty through heat treatments exceeding 120º F.
