Conventional Construction Techniques
What sets Iowa-Built bunkhouses apart is our origins in what became our Conventional Construction Techniques. Iowa-Built's commercial and residential construction background influenced both the techniques and materials used in our bunkhouses. When we set about converting our first dry van, we recognized that the materials used in many bunkhouses were borrowed from the RV and Camper industry and didn't stack up to our standards for longevity and structure. While on the opposite end of the spectrum, we found that the more robust and durable offerings present a more industrial and desolate space behind a steep price tag. Finding a middle ground in the market, we applied our background in construction. We built our bunkhouses using sensible, homier livable touches that can be easily refurbished and continually updated throughout the lifespan of your bunkhouse.
The Iowa-Built Recepe
Real Materials
All Iowa-Built bunkhouses are built right here in Grinnell, Iowa using real treated 2x4s and solid wood finishing and trim. We use these materials because of their tried and true legacy in almost every home and business in America.
Solid Structure
The Iowa-Built Conventional Construction Techniques center around natural materials and take shape with our proprietary Solid Shell assembly system, which ensures consistent and robust structure as a foundational feature of Iowa-Built bunkhouses.
Refurbishable Finishes
The reliable solid structure of Iowa-Built bunkhouses receives an interior boost as the wall frames are electrified, insulated, and finally sealed behind solid wood panels and finishing trim. The solid wood walls, shelves, and bedframes allow for an easy two-step refinishing process on all surfaces.
Comfortable, Liveable Touches
The functional features of our bunkhouses culminate to create some of the most comfortable bunkhouses on the market today. We understand that our bunkhouses will provide a home away from home for so many people, which is why we emphasize using more comfortable materials and surfaces to establish a sense of comfort while the bunk is your home.
